Aaltos Architects Studio

Litmus Paper: "Aalto's Architect's studio" Situated on a corner site in one of the suburbs of Helsinki, Aalto's office resembles more a villa than the conventional image of an architect's working space. Because of the thoroughly collegial relationship between Aalto and his associates, all academically trained architects, the office has been designed as if for a family.The plan of the studio is derived from a shifted circle in a square. The indirect combination of a circle & square, where both forms are whole or easily implied, but do not share a common center. Disregard the combination between two forms, the overall view doesn't create an optical destruction at all. It provide transparency for the vision. It's a perception that results from our intellectual imperative. The different quality between circle(in that round smooth surface) and square(four equal sides with sharp right angle) has successfully integrated in Aalto's design. Not only it creates the sense of transparency, but it also functions very well. The outer area that can be defined as "square" part reflects Aalto's intelligence as a designer in creating a very useful working space. Aalto treated the "circle" parameter as the partition that devides interior from the exterior....
