NSA Scholarship
NSA Scholarship I want a job at the NSA because… It was a usual day in Mr. Reid’s class. We all came in, sat down, and began to listen to his usual monotone and dull lecture. I would usually have to force my self to not become bored but today, I was paying attention. We were talking about army intelligence during World War II. This war was not only fought on the ground, much of the war was fought even before one soldier stepped on the field. The men and women responsible for the collection of data and intelligence were crucial to the success of the army. This training was done at schools all over the country. I used to think that many skills taught in school are worthless in practicality. However, I now realize that, through the National Security Agency, I would be able to use skills used in school such as graphing, calculus, analysis, etc. to help my country become better positioned in war and defense. In high school, I have not only been enrolled in a world-renowned academic program, the International Baccalaureate Program, but I have also taken the most rigorous courses offered within that program. I have also become fluent in three languages: English, Spanish, and French. This knowledge of languages can help me in deciphering cryptologic codes, as well as doing research. I will be able to use my language skills to learn other languages. Also, by taking courses at Johns Hopkins University and in community college, I have attained a higher level of education. This education will help me serve my country. Being a first generation American born to Cuban parents, I have come to love the United States for all the opportunities accessible to us. My parents came to the U.S. as poverty-stricken young children, but because of the opportunities available in the U.S., they were able to succeed. I could not imagine being anywhere other than in the U.S. I owe a lot to this country, and the NSA would offer me an opportunity to begin to pay back. Bibliography:
