t wasn’t just the Cherokees that Jackson forced to move west. The tribes were the Chippewa, Menominee, Iowa, Sioux, Ottawa, Winnebago, Sac, Fox, Creek, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Cherokee. More than one hundred thousand Native Americans were forced to move. The promise that the American Government made for them to be able to keep their lands out west was later broken too. From more than ninety treaties signed to remove the Native Americans, such sorrow as the Trail of Tears was born.
