fering that the Indians had to endure throughout the "Trail of Tears". Wallace's facts and point of views are credible because his is a well-known historian as well as a psychological anthropologist. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1950 and taught there from 1951 to 1988. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, The Growth of an American Village in the Early Industrial Revolution (1978) was one of his most important works. In his other books he compares religion as a movement of "social revitalization" among the American Indians and in modern times. Wallace made on interesting comment when interviewed by Robert S. Grumet. He stated, " things like unfair treaties, the Trail of Tears, and The Black Hawk War, for instance, remain part of "Now" from which many Native Americans view their place in time today." His words ring so true because even today many Native American refuse to celebrate Columbus Day. Why honor the person who brought the white man to the New World?...
