The Most Influential Person
The Most Influential Person I have learned some valuable lessons in life. Sorry to say I had to learn some the hard way. I guess I had to learn that way because since I thought I was grown and didn’t have to listen to any advice given to me. My brother just says I told you so. There are also some good points to this though. I was told not to disappoint my mom when I went off to college. Now that I have mid terms I can say that my G.P.A. wasn’t anywhere near where I wanted it to be, I had a 2.2 and I am not satisfied with that. As a matter of fact I am mad with myself for letting myself get a G.P.A. that low when I know I am smarter than a 2.2. My brother said that I would mess up by letting the girls and my friends have more time than my homework. I can’t really say that the parties were a problem for me because I only went one the whole semester. The main problem was “hanggin’ out” all hours of the night. I finally realized most of the girls around here don’t genuinely care about you and your grades and your well being. They are only out to see what you can do for them. Well my brother gives me a lot of advice that I sometimes listen to and sometimes not. He is the single most influential person in my life. I say this because he is the only person that knows everything about me and loves me just the same no matter how much he knows. He always has a chance to say I told you so because more times than not I don’t listen to what he has already been through. When I was little I did listen to him all the time and that was the reason that I was not labeled as the problem child. I remember one time we were playing in the yard and we were being mischievous and I got a bright idea to climb up the house to the top of the roof, but I did not know how to go about it. Our next-door neighbor came over and was also curious as to how I was going to do that. He suggested that I get a ladder from Mr. Johnson’s house. Of course you can tell by the name that Mr. Johnson was the mean next-door neighbor that had all of the goodies that a kid longs for and it just so happens that we found a way to get into the yard just three days earlier. So being the bright kids that we are we started to go through the “secret passageway” that we discovered. My brother whispered if he gets the ladder, don’t you go on that roof. I heeded and went back to getting the ladder. There was a lock on the shed door that prevented us from getting to the ladder, or so we thought. We rattled the lock in frustration only to find that the lock was open! So we went in to get the ladder. Finally we had the ladder and back to the roof. He put the ladder up to the roof and my brother said “watch this.” Sure enough soon as he got up on the roof he fell off and broke his collarbone. We laughed and laughed. That’s just one case of where I listened and I hope there will be many more. Bibliography:
