Georgia O’Keeffe was an American-born painter. She was born in Sun Prairie Wisconsin on November 15, 1887 and died on March 6, 1986. She had studied in the Art Institute of Chicago and in an Art Students league in New York. She was a unique painter. She began to change her art style in 1915. She had the first one-woman show in Alfred Stieglitz’s gallery in New York in 1917. She had joined a circle with young artists around Stieglitz and she had also married him in 1924.Most of O’Keeffe’s works were usually about nature such as flowers, still life, and landscapes. Her most famous paintings were flowers. Most of her paintings looked like they were magnified and their forms were very clear and these paintings first appeared in the 1920s. During the 1920’s, O’Keeffe had also painted city scenes in the precise style.In 1929, O’Keeffe visited New Mexico. Then her paintings had begun to reflect on the scenery of the southwestern desert. And one of her finest work was made in 1943. She had studies animal bones that set against spare backgrounds. O’Keeffe’s unique style has placed her in a forefront of American modernists. ...
