Two of these 10 items (questions 3 and 9) are the direct result of an organization's training and career development strategies. In sum, the Hay Group's research suggests that one of the best ways to retain talented people is to provide them with high-quality education, training, and career development opportunities. Though money matters, it appears to have taken a back seat to career development.Alas, the bad news is that this same study found employees' report that the effectiveness of their employer's training function was low relative to almost every other indicator of effectiveness. So it appears that in most organizations, there is ample room for improving training and career development opportunities, and that doing so would result in significant improvements in employee retention....
