Leadership1
Leadership1 I feel that the most important leadership trait in your business life is forming good relationships. You must form a good relationship with people in order to become a leader. If you build on a broken relationship then you will not gain that person's trust and they will not want to follow you. If you build a good relationship with someone then trust, respect, credibility and many other traits will also be part of your leadership style. A leader must be some one that can be trusted and respected. If you do not have these traits then no one will want to follow you. You must command respect and that way people will see what you are doing as a good cause and want to follow you. You must also be caring. You must show the people that follow you that they are more then just people but they are your friends. You must make them believe that you will do anything to protect them and that you will not do anything that is meant to harm them. They will treat you with the same caring way if you do this. You must also be a visionary. You must always be looking to the future and thinking of new things that must be done in order to stay on top. An effective leader must be able to know what do at all times. He or she must always have a plan but also be willing to change it. You must realize that there will be bumps in the road that you do not expect and you must be willing to make changes to combat those changes. You must also think of your subordinates and yourself as one family. You must always think of what it will do to the group as a whole and the consequences your actions will have. He must also make choices sometimes that will hurt an individual but will be better for the group. This is part of being a leader even though it is not one of the fun parts. The leader's most important task is to make the best decision for his people. He must take all of the outlying circumstances and process them and come up with what he thinks is the best idea. He must also realize that some of the times he is going to be wrong and have to face the consequences of his decision. A good leader will know how to handle this and to move on. Everyone will make mistakes it all depends on what you do with the knowledge you gained from your mistake that will make you into a good leader. The core values that my model stresses is that a leader must be caring and trustworthy. If he does not care about his people then they will not care about him or the goals that he wants to accomplish. Your workers have to believe that you care about them and their interests in order to feel a sense of loyalty to you. If they feel that you are there for them then they will want to be there for you and help you out. This is the type of people that you want underneath you in order to help you out. You must also be able to be trusted. If your people can trust you then they will be willing to put a lot more into their work and be willing to take a lot more risks for you. If they feel that they can trust you and that you will not throw blame at them if they mess up then they will take risks that may turn into great things. The relationship that would exist would be one of friendship. You would feel as if the people around you are family. You would treat them like they are family and their would be a respect and admiration between everyone. You would not be viewed as a mean and cold leader but instead as a knowledgeable person who is looking out for the best interests of the whole group. The culture of the group would have the same type of feeling. You would get the feeling that everyone is a big happy family. There would be problems that would arise but you would be able to get over them because it would be an open type of environment in which you could talk about your problems. This would lead to the pursuit of a happy median. You would be looking to find a way to try and keep everyone as happy as possible. I feel that you get the best work out of someone that is happy to be working. They will feel good when they get the job done and they will feel a connection to what they are doing. You will get everyone to feel that they are part of a team and that although you are the leader they will see you as just another equal. The world outside the organization will not run the same way that our organization does but it will be easier for us to deal with because we will go into it as a group and not as a bunch of individuals. We will be able to deal with the problems because if any part of the team needs help they will have a whole group of people to lean on. I think that this plan will help us to advance in the outside world because if we can stay loyal to each other then we will be much stronger then other groups or individuals that are out there. I think that this model is different then other models because it is more focused on forming a group of friends that will want to work together. I think many times all of the emphasis is put on the end product and not on the parts that go into making it. If you put focus back on the people that are doing the work then you will end up with a better final product. Many of the leaders out there now lead by telling their workers what to do and not ever doing anything or connecting with their workers. If you can connect with your workers and get them to know you are in it with them then you will have a much better group of people underneath you. I plan on starting this plan when I enter the workplace. I do not want to be the type of leader that tells his people what to do and then takes credit for it. I want to be involved with them and take the same risks and gain the same praise that they will gain. I will make them believe that I am not just their leader but I am also their friend.
