Our hiring decisions are based on an objective evaluation of your skills, experiences and competencies. What are we looking for? What should you expect? Here is a brief explanation of our process. A Two-Step ProcessHiring at Ford Motor Company is a two-step process designed to be quick, thorough and personal. The first phase is Initial Recruiting, which may involve a face-to-face meeting with a Ford recruiter. Its purpose is to review and assess your credentials, experience and background.The second phase is a more in-depth interaction with Ford Motor Company at a Leadership Conference. Conferences are weekend events at a Ford facility. If you’re invited to one of these weekends, you’ll know you’ve made the first cut. Then, based on your performance during the weekend, Ford managers will make a hiring decision. Read on to learn more about the two phases in the hiring process. Initial RecruitingInitial recruiting begins when you meet us--for example, as you explore this site. You can see if our working environment fits your style, find out about career programs and open positions, and read about who we are and what it’s like to work here.If you decide you’d like to join us, you answer an online questionnaire about your skills, experience and background. If this Web-based personal assessment shows you have what we’re looking for, we can invite you to a leadership conference.Some people meet us when we recruit on campus or at a career fair, and in some cases we conduct an interview instead of using our Web-based assessment.If you’re invited to a leadership conference, you’ll get on line to schedule your attendance. If you haven’t received an invitation, we continue to consider you for openings unless we notify you otherwise. Please log in frequently to see any new information on your personal page.Leadership ConferenceThe leadership conference is an expenses-paid weekend at a Ford Motor Company facility. This can be a big event, with dozens of guests like you meeting and interacting with Ford people. Our recruiters, managers and other employees will guide you through a series of activities to help you learn whether a Ford career is for you. The conference is an opportunity for both you and us to evaluate each other in depth. Activities at the Leadership ConferenceAlthough the conference can be a big event, you won’t be lost in a crowd. A mentor will be assigned to counsel you on where you best fit in our organization. You’ll also have a peer “buddy” to show you around and answer general questions.On the opening evening, you will attend a general session and reception. Key senior management speakers like President and CEO Jac Nasser will welcome you, and you’ll have opportunities to interact with them. On the next day, you will participate in several different kinds of activities. · You’ll learn more about Ford in a series of workshops. · You’ll have a structured interview with two Ford managers in your area(s) of interest. · You’ll join a small team of other candidates to recommend a solution to a current business issue. · You’ll have a facilities tour, a “ride and drive,” and other forums and activities.The interview, case study and group observation exercise will all be part of your assessment. AssessmentsDuring the conference, we will evaluate your suitability for employment with Ford. While the interview and team exercise are assessment elements, the other weekend activities provide an opportunity for informal personal interaction, so you can get to know some of our people better. You’ll receive meaningful feedback throughout the weekend on how you’re doing, where you best fit in Ford, and where you are in the process.You’ll have the option of learning the assessment results before you leave the event, or waiting for a formal letter after you return to your home or campus. You have the choice of hearing personally whether or not you’ll be offered employment with Ford Motor Company. OffersWhen we make an offer, we include salary and any other financial information you need to make your decision.With this process, you don’t have to wait weeks after an interview to hear the results. You’ll meet Ford people in structured and informal settings, so you can make an informed decision whether you’d like to join us. Our new hiring process is quick, thorough and personal, and we hope you’ll want to join our team. The Qualities We Look ForOf course, the ideal candidate for a position with Ford Motor Company enjoys high academic standing, possesses leadership potential, works well with others, and can point with pride to extra-curricular activities and community achievements. Beyond that, the ideal candidate should display a passion for working in the automotive industry in general and for Ford Motor Company in particular. You will also be evaluated on the 12 Leadership Behaviors required for our employees. These are explained below. Leadership BehaviorsOur ideal candidate exhibits 12 characteristics that we find in our successful leaders. Many of these emphasize the development, motivation and treatment of people. They also focus on competencies needed to foster the imagination, ingenuity, creativity and courage required to inspire and implement better ideas.
