descriptive essay
descriptive essay The green sea of grass waved gently under the pastel sunset. The young mare, lying in the meadow, felt the breeze slide over her. The other horses were a distance off, galloping about. She admired their great sturdy speed. Thirsty, she brought herself up and walked slowly to the nearby pond. Aproaching the water, she could hear the toads croaking. The cool, fresh water was soothing, and she drank plenty. Being new to these feilds, she kept to herself a lot, as she was not used to the other horses. She'd only been around one other horse in her life, and that was her mother. These horses were very wild and she was a bit frightened by them. Just then another horse trotted over and began to drink, also. She stepped back a little, and stared at him. His brown coat was shiny, and his mane wild, as the front swept into his face. From his reflection in the water she could see the white marking on his face. She'd never seen anything like him before. He slowly pulled his head up from the water. She stepped back again, unsure of what he would do. Suddenly the hard thumps of the others running to the pond could be heard. She ran back out to the feild, frightened by their sudden aproach. She watched the water splash all about, as they surged down into the pond to cool off. They brought the water to life as they froliced and splashed about. As the sun finally faded, the stars were crystals littering the sky. Lying there in the cool grass, under the beautiful blanket of the night sky, the young mare was reminded of being back with her mother. On nights like these they would stare up at the twinkling stars together. She missed her mother so. Being tired from the hot day, she closed her eyes, and let the wind whisper her to sleep, to dream of what tomorrow may bring. Bibliography:
