The results showed that AT had a large impact on a persons life, and their way of living. The majority of infants with disabilities benefited by having fewer health problems because of AT. About 75% of school age children were able to remain in a regular classroom, and 45 % were able to reduce their use of school-related services because of AT. AT allowed for 65% of working-age persons to reduce dependence on family members, 58% were able to reduce dependence on paid assistance, and 37% were able to increase earnings. AT helped 80% of elderly persons to reduce dependence on others, half were able to reduce dependency on paid persons, and half were able to avoid entering a nursing home. It is clear that AT helps everyone with a disability to live better, and to live a more normal life. The question is now not one of how can we afford effective AT, but what happens is AT is not provided....
