Students were allowed to sit wherever they wanted, eat, and drink whatever they wanted also. Dr. Hammond believed that students learned best when they felt the most comfortable.Professor Hammond was not a big fan of outside reading either. We had only one book for the class. It was a small book with relatively few chapters. In his classroom he loved to lecture. He felt that if he could somehow make his lecture very interesting and exciting those students would learn more. By making these lectures interesting, students would then jump right into class discussions, further advancing their knowledge on the subject material at hand. It was a rather exciting classroom to be involved in. He made learning fun by tying in current events with the material we were studying at the time.
