Hiring TEachers

n the new state helps to attract teachers from all over the U.S. has helped them with their recruitment. They also use a web site to advertise on and allow interested candidates to fill out an on line application and email directly to the district. This source allows them to find teachers in places they might not have considered worth a trip across country or even across the world. Another great benefit they can offer to perspective teachers is help on housing. Hesperia works with the local chamber of commerce and real estate companies to find teachers residences when the come out to live while they decide on their own real estate options. (Ibid, 9-100 I have also heard of another county in California that is building new town-homes just for the teachers in their district. The cost of living was so high that many teachers could not afford to stay. This way they can retain current teacher and attract new teachers with a place to live. Even though it feels as if I have been teaching forever, four years is not that long ago. I have seen a great change in the way that school districts are hiring personnel. It almost appears that now many school districts have taken on the hiring practices of the corporate world. They are fighting for the best-qualified people to come to their district and teach by using better practices such as long-term observations with the college students and by offering incentives to get the best teachers attention.
