Lesson Plan: Mosaic Magnets Students will discuss mosaic style art Students will develop their own mosaic magnet Students will study other cultures style of mosaic art Students will practice their fine motor skills Students will display color blending and patterns in their mosaic Mosaics from other cultures Mosaics from teacher and previous students Heavy paper- thin cardboard, poster-board, manila/pattern paper etc. Construction paper, variety of colors Laminating paper or clear contact paper 1)The students will be introduced to mosaic style art 2)The students will be introduced to other cultures mosaics 3)The students will view different mosaics 4)Tear pieces of construction paper into tiny pieces 5)Make a mixture of water and glue 6)On heavy paper have children cut out small shapes. A circle, square etc…7)Have children design a Mosaic- picking a simple design.8)After they have glued the pieces down gently brush the entire shape with the glue mixture. Allow drying.9)After drying cover with contact paper or laminate10)Place the magnets on the back and use.
