school uniforms
school uniforms Voluntary attendance, school uniforms and omitting school proms from high schools will not prevent the shootings in school, troublemakers in classrooms, stop the teenage pregnancies or the alcohol related accidents. I strongly disagree with Garland’s points on school proms, school uniforms, and voluntary attendance. First, high school proms are not “a nightmare that ruins young people’s budgets, self image or even their lives,” as stated by Garland. Twice in students’ high school years, sometimes more, do they get to get dressed up and have a nice evening with dinner and dancing. Unplanned pregnancies and drinking alcohol do not always happen after a prom, both of those can happen during school, after school or anytime. The cost of a prom can get expensive, with the bids, tuxedo rental, the dress, the limousine, and after prom activities. Therefore, if there is a budget then parents have to set down the rules and that’s, that. Secondly, Garland states that “school uniforms will let kids from modest backgrounds stand out for their personality and intelligence, rather than being tagged as losers because they can’t wear the seasons hottest clothes.” School uniforms will not make any difference for the modest student for these reasons. First, a student will need at least three uniforms for a school year and the cost of three uniforms is probably equal cost to store bought clothes. Another reason is the students who cannot afford the expensive clothes now are not going to be able to afford the expensive uniforms either. Finally, will there be financial assistance for uniform costs? Furthermore, will some students have to wear only one uniform for the entire school year? Surely, others will notice the student who owns only one uniform if there was a stain or tear It is not difficult for a new student Bibliography:
