The child will understand that objects can be described with one or more of these words, such as smooth and hard.Procedure: 1. Introduce the sense of touch by asking students what they can do with there hands. Lead the class to see that they touch things with their hands, and then ask them if everything feels the same when they touch it. You may have to lead the discussion by asking them how the carpet or floor feels. Introduce the words rough, smooth, hard and soft. Be sure to give examples of each so that the students can begin to associate these words with concrete examples.2. Place the “feelie bucket on the floor during circle time. Have each student put there hand into the bucket and pull an item out. Ask the children to describe the item they have found. Encourage the children to touch all or the objects. Assessments: Ask children later in the day to describe the way things feel. Repeat the activity a few days later and see if the children can identify the objects by their appropriate desciptive words. ...
