Three O’clock one night Mr.Enfield comes across a disfigured man who tramples aneight year old girl. Mr. Hyde pays Mr. Enfield and the family ofthe little girl one hundred pounds 10 gold pounds and therest with a check.The element used best in this chapter is FORESHADOW"...for the man calmly trampled over the child's body andleft her screaming on the ground..."(6). This element is usedwell because Mr. Hyde is an evil man and when this part isread about him trampling over the girl, it makes the readersee him as the antagonist. By doing this in the beginning ofthe novel it foreshadows the evil crimes that Mr. Hydecommits in the novel and the characteristics of Mr. Hyde.By trampling over the little girl Mr. Hyde obtains a badreputation and is feared. In the beginning of the novel hisactions show that he is the antagonist. This later on in thestory leads to internal and external conflict...
