The Bomb

city and buildings were gutted by the fire. Because of this enormous amount of power, 140,000 people died. There was power in sheer size of the bomb. It weighed 9,000 pounds, over 4 tons. The diameter measured 28 inches. It was 120 inches long. This particular bomb had more power than 20,000 tons of TNT. It contained 2,000 times more power than the British bomb, “Grand Slam.” This had been the largest bomb to be used in warfare so far. At the hypocenter, it is said that 4.5-6.7 tons of pressure per square meter was exerted. Our quote was “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” The U.S. government demonstrated their political power when they decided to drop the bomb. The bomb is not a gun, like the quote says, but it is a weapon. However, the bomb went off with a gun like explosion.
