Beloved as a Folk Tale

ery well be the devil himself against the lowest yet(Beloved, 256). Ella was able to organize thirty women in an effort to rid 124 of that presence. This shows the strong community support because these women are neglecting their work and facing possible punishment just to help out a fellow member of their community. The Sweet Home community must be strong in order to give hope to its members. The mothers of sweet home lost their sons and daughters before they could take on adult features. This provided an environment where a caring community was a necessity. This part of the folk tale is very important in the story because it shows that there is always something to rely on in desperate times. In the book Beloved the folk tale plays a very important part in getting Morrisons point across. The many components that make up the folklore help bring the past experiences of the various characters to the present. This helps them realize; sometimes painfully the consequences that their past decisions have had on the present. The folk tale is able to allow the audience to think for themselves and form their own opinions on what was right or wrong in the book. It also allows them to look deeper into the history and see the true pain that the characters must have felt in their enslavement....
