Comparing the theme of nature with works from Dicknson Whitman and Emerson

hing it to me with full/hands(Pg.27) By using a metaphor, such as the bundle of grass, Whitman is able to explain that although each strand of grass is different, they all grow the same way and when put together they are united as one. When discussing nature in the form of death, Dickinson portrays it as a relief, salvation, and an escape to a better place. She views death as being a good and positive thing. In her poem Death and Life, she brilliantly compares the death of a flower, to the death of a human. She states that Apparently with no surprise/to any happy flower, /The frost beheads it at its play/In accidental power. Through her distinct words of choice, she relates death as being part of nature. In other words, death is as much apart of nature as life, and we should not only accept it, but also be ready for it. Dickinson goes on to say, The blond assassin passes on/The sun proceeds unmoved/To measure off another day/For an approving God. She describes the frost that killed the flower as a blond assassin, and that when it passes on the sun has no remorse. She also says that God approves of the sun having no regret. This may be because death is inevitable, and we cannot escape it. It is in our nature to die, just like it is in our nature to live.Although Emerson, Whitman, and Dickinson each differ in the manner in which they write, and the tone and voice in which they write, all three poets arrive at similar conclusions when discussing nature in their works. They feel that nature, no matter how it is discussed, will always and forever be apart of our lives. Whether it is through the individual or death, nature surrounds us, and we need to appreciate it for all it is worth....
