way from his fathers non-sense. In the end Willy just cant bare reality and Biff cant bare all of the lies. Willy was never able to accept the fact that he made mistakes. He couldnt admit tothat he was wrong and try and make things rite. Willy just ignored the problems andpretended like things were OK. Biff is tired of his fathers deceit but he had beenholding back because of his mother Linda and brother Happy. Finally Biff opens upand tells his father what he had been wanting to say for a long time. Biff and Willyget into a fight or argument and Willy leaves the house never to come back. In conclusion, Willy and Biff symbolize one major theme in the play Deathof a Salesman. They symbolize the theme of appearance vs. reality. Twocharacters that represent opposite things. Willy represents appearance and Biffrepresents reality. Willy forced himself into denial and he believed that things in hislife were good. That just made things worse. It was too late for Willy to makewrong right and the best choice for Willy was his last choice. He decided thatcommitting suicide and leaving $20,000 for Biff from life insurance would makethings better. He was wrong to do that because he left his family without a fatherand a husband and it was selfish of him. Willy was a confused old man and his fatewas a tragedy....
