Emersons Friendship

better off with solitude. There are many people who seek friendship and make it seem like the “texture of wine and dreams” instead of what it really is, “the touch fibre of the human heart.” There are two main elements that go into to the make up of a friendship, one being truth. A friend is someone one can go to and be themselves around, they should not have to think twice before opening their mouth and speaking in fear of sounding stupid or imperfect. Often around strangers we feel inferior as if we must speak in a way to please them as not to offend them in any way when really we should just be honest. I would have them where I can find them, but I seldom use them.”In conclusion, Emerson uses this essay to show individuals the importance of friendship. “Friendship” clearly communicates that everyone has the need of a companion, someone who they can be open and honest with, someone to show them tenderness especially in the worst of times. So I leave you with a last quote...
