That he handles sex without sentimentality that only strict moralists would hold against him. This was not only part of his poetic license but also an important contribution to our knowledge us. Their relationship is therefore neither exalted nor tragic. In Hemingway’s works the “women are ‘man-eaters, a disturbing, even dangerous, element in a man’s world”(15). Men Without Women was the title of one of his short story anthologies. Here he sees women as a “passive creature, completely subservient to man, a willing instrument in the satisfaction of his desire”(15). It is not surprising therefore that his women seem unreal, like the stereo types you find on the front pages of popular magazines.
