Heroic Values

As you can see, beauty played a big role in the lives of the Celtic people, whether they may have realized it or not.Heroic Values of the Germanic PeopleAccording to the reading, the Germanic people apparently lead lives that were removed from emotion. They were not allowed to share their feelings or emotions with one another. If they did, they should be prepared to pay the consequences. The Germanic people considered this to be an unacceptable behavior. To me, this is the main heroic value portrayed in the story The Wanderer.In this piece, the main character in the story is a lonely man in search of another lord. His previous lord has died, and so this man has to find another to replace him. The problem in the fact that he must take this journey on his own.As I said before, the Germanic People were not ones to allow exchange of feelings, so the "wanderer" is to do this both physically and emotionally by himself. Not necessarily an easy feat.As a result of the loss of his lord and the suppression of his inner emotions, the individual in the story is left, I think, longing for this kind of interpersonal relationship. Possibly, this is why it is so important for him to find another lord. He possesses a very large desire to share these feelings.The wanderer ends up with a very pessimistic view of the world due to his experience. A pessimistic view that is applied to everything. Thus, as noted in the introduction to this piece, he left asking himself," Where have all the good friends and good things gone?" From this I think you will agree that the Germanic people could be, and probably should be, labeled as stoic. ConclusionAs you can see from the values pointed out above, both the Celtic and Germanic People did indeed have a Heroic Age.
