King Lear Essay 1
King Lear Essay 1 Service and loyalty are big parts of the plot of King Lear. Some characters of this play show complete loyalty and service to the king. One of these is Kent. Throughout the play, Kent is completely loyal to his king, even after the Lear banishes him from the kingdom. This tells me that some people can be loyal to the end. I believe that Kent sees that the daughters are not loyal to their father. He sees right through their false identities and realizes that Cordelia is the only one that is truly loyal to her father. I think this is the main reason Kent is loyal to his king. I also saw the opposite of service and loyalty in this play. King Lear's daughters Regan and Goneril are both complete opposites of their sister Cordelia. They are very good actresses in the sense that they can make their father think that they are completely loyal to him when in truth they are deceiving him greatly. I think loyalty and service have played a great part in my success in life thus far. These have been two attributes I have tried to live by. I believe that both of these things are very important to making a person successful because it proves him to be trustworthy to his peers. I agree with the way Kent was loyal to his king even though Lear made some mistakes. I believe this is what made him one of the few survivors in the end. It is said that only the strong survive and service and loyalty are what makes Kent strong. Bibliography:
