Marvel

er. Marvells style is very straight-forward, no holds barred just coming out and saying, Hey its time for us to have sex, so lets do it now. On the other hand, you have Herrick, who plays his desires by words. He uses more smooth lines, and does not come straight to the point. He also isnt singling out a single person, as his poem is written to any and all virgins, whereas Marvell is writing it to his mistress and just her.In the poems, many lines go hand in hand with one another, having the same meaning, just using different words to achieve that. For example, in Herricks poem, he goes on to say Old-Time is still a-flying. His meaning behind that is taht time is not going any slower, nor is it going to stop soon. Marvell says the same thing, but says it like But at my back I always hear times winged chariot hurrying near. Both have the same meaning, but they said it in completely different ways. Marvells way of saying it sounds much more *censored* and demanding, like he wants something done quick, while Herricks is much more layed-back and passive....
