Parker could have killed the carps when he took the ponds, but instead he placed her fishes in clear glasses, so Bethan was able to see them clearly for the first time. Perhaps he is not totally cold-hearted or perhaps he (or the author) wants to tell us some thing: look at the world, look at people just as they are, when they are not hidden in the deep and dark, and don’t try to fool yourself. ...
