Should a Woman be President

selves, picked Indira Gandhi as a compromise candidate, and each thought that she would be easily manipulable as many nowadays assume about women to be in an executive position or rule a country. Surprisingly, for most, Gandhi showed extraordinary political skills and tenacity and elbowed the Congress dons out of power (Indira Gandhi). Meanwhile, women have always had the strength and the power to cope the extreme situations and make their lives more worthwhile; they just haven’t been given the chance to do so. Being oppressed for so many years negatively impacted women. It affected their desires and goals to fight and eventually achieve equality. The complacency of some doesn’t help much the determination of the others. For instance, some women eagerly started fighting back after 1950’s. Realizing that they are not limited with the ability to only do the family raising, they wanted liberation, they wanted more involvement in the work place, go to college, support themselves and even fight for their country. They became independent members of society. While, unfortunately, there are some who still think that man are more intelligent, have more abilities, are more powerful, moreover, that a woman can not be president. In fact, despite the unfaithful reality that women were denied the right and the opportunity to be educated for so long, now the quantity of the females and males of the graduates of law or med schools is equivalent. These facts prove the theory of men being smarter then women wrong. Then, why should not a woman be president, why one hasn’t been yet? Will there ever be a female president? These are some questions I can’t seem to find reasonable answers to. The power differential, the inequality between women and men in our society erroneously lacks the opportunity of the females to higher positions making them the slaves of the society.
