In Michael Ruddys book review of Heldref Publications FBI and the Origins of Anticommunism in the United States, He accuses that, Political role resulted not from public hysteria or the manipulations of an autonomous bureau but from the progressive-era movement toward centralization of the federal government. He puts up an opposing argument to that of Robert Murrays ideas which focus and stress the public hysteria aspect of the Red Scare. In this article, he also showed that congress left the judgment of political matters to the executive. That meant that congress had no say in the bureaus activities, which was left up to the president.SLU Library DatabaseThe 1950 Red Scare compares to the Salem Witch Hunt Trials in the fact that the church and church officials were vying for power, just as the president and the Bureau were. In Salem, the church and its ministers along with the court were worried about the publics respect and that of other courts.
