The Development of Frankie The book is a memoir of the childhood of Frank McCourt. It shows how the people in his life affected the development of Frank as an adult. Frank wrote this book looking back at the memories that he has had since he was a child and organized them, showing how he got to his present position in life. It includes what he thought as his brothers and sisters had died, and what he concluded about death. It showed how he loved his Dad even though he spent all the money for the food at the pub. Frank has two distinct different role models; one is his father who is drunk half the time and not there the other half, and there is his mother who will do whatever it takes to take care of her children and survive. Frank sees examples daily of both and he was fourtunate enough to combine the honor of his father, but also have the smart life-mindedness that she has. There was also the influence of his first school teacher that helped him by saying that if he studied he could make up his own mind about history. When this book was writen it was writen in first person and it tells Franks childhood as though he were still a child. He gave insights to what was going on during the story and he also gave several side points as to how he felt. ...
