They flew during the night to horrid assemblies, or the covens, where they coupled with demons, and in return they received the power to caste spells on their neighbors leaving them impotent or causing their cattle to die.Pope ruled this mighty empire of religion as God’s vicar on earth. Popes believed that they possessed dominion over souls, bodies, and over the earth, which they derive from. They dreamed of a City of God. In this city the pope, God’s vassal would command his vassals’ the kings to defend the faith. Papal claims were supported, and impaired by the possession of the Patrimony of St. Peter, also the city of Rome along with its surroundings, and the Papal States.
