rit, embodied forever in the embroidered tapestry, will never cease to be free.Kate Chopin and Adrienne Rich are two women that wrote about male dominance. Both choose to explore different ways women act when oppressed. Chopin clearly uses Edna Pontellier as a heroine for all women. Edna is a sensuous woman who simply follows her inclinations without thinking much about the issues or tormenting herself with her conscience. Meanwhile Adrienne Rich has created a poem that represents the feelings of so many women in this world. The message in both of these works crosses all geographic, racial and political boundaries. Somewhere in this world, women will be able to relate to Aunt Jennifers Tigers and The Awakening. With a new century starting, the message of hope and to fight off oppression will go on. Today, women all over the world battle not to be oppressed by their male counterparts. Weve come a long way but still have a long way to go. Women today make seventy six cents to every dollar a man makes. Hopefully, one day we will be able to make a dollar for a dollar....
