His sweet condolences and sweet chocolate are life affirming for Helen as well as his tender kiss. Another show of compassion, although Schindler tries to hide it, is when he allows Rabbi and Mrs. Levartov to work in his factory, saving the rabbi from execution by Goeth. Schindler rationalized his salvation of the man with the statement Theres always room at Emalia for someone who can turn out a hinge in less than a minute. However, we see again the same kindness when Schindler provides Levartov with wine and early dismissal on Friday evenings to prepare for Shabbat. Besides these and other individual demonstrations, these acts of kindness can be grouped into the compilation of the famous list off the all the Jews that Schindler and Stern could think of.
