as they did. A man breaks the law to help his people in a time of need, he’s a hero. A woman breaks the law to help her people in a time of need, she’s out of control and dangerous. If the revolution was going to make the lives of all Frenchmen better, why not the women too? That is exactly how the women of the French Revolution felt. They saw that there was something more to reach for. The stirring winds of the revolution blew back the curtains and showed them that they could and should be living a life with the same opportunities and rights that men have. The brave women of the French Revolution began it, and it didn’t become a reality until well into the 20th century. The women of French Revolution didn’t accomplish what they would have liked to, because change takes time, and new, different ideas are almost always rejected at first by the status quo. In this case, the new ideas were women’s rights, and the status quo was us men. ...
