America as the New Rome

ture of the Romans has been borrowed by America also, with pillars and arches found in virtually every city across America. Even our government was stolen from Rome. America saw John F. Kennedy assassinated, with the assassination shrouded in mystery and confusion, much like the assassination of Caesar. The Romans had Vergil to write about their history and development in great works of literature, the Americans had Mark Twain. The Romans introduced a network of roads, sewers, and plumbing. Americans have taken these ideas and perfected them. The list goes on. America has, or at least will in the very near future, become the modern Rome.Then the question arises though, when will America fall? Is a America already falling? Rome was around for a very long time, but then again, the world has become very abbreviated, so perhaps so will Americas stint at the top will be, too. The general consensus is that America, with so many similarities to Rome, will slowly dissipate like Rome, as opposed to going out with a bang like the French. They say America will become too concerned with foreign affairs and will slowly start to disintigrate from the inside. Some even say that a thousand years from now history books will describe the late twentieth century as the beginning of the demise of America. The fall of Rome happened in a time when the economy was in a boom and people started losing respect for the people in power, just like lately with our stock markets booming and our president caught in a sex scandal. Many experts believe that there will be no or little bloodshed in the fall of the States, that some world power like China will simply nose their way into the world economy, slowly overtake the US, and just let America dwindle away on its own, and perhaps become the next Rome in doing so....
