Most importantly, however, Kennedy should have continued to utilize a full-fledged attack, including extensive air raids, on Cuba as originally planned. His hesitance to do this is what caused the immediate defeat and capture of the 1,500 exiles, who felt betrayed by the United States. If Kennedy was so concerned about other nations, specifically the Soviet Union, finding out about an American-led invasion, he should not have let it take place at all, for the truth was bound to be known eventually. However, if he was determined to go through with it, like he had been, he should have been willing to use a full military offensive to guarantee victory, instead of sitting on the fence on the issue. The Bay of Pigs invasion, although with good intensions, turned out to be a major debacle, and eventually proved to be more detrimental than beneficial....
