me more spiritual in their own religious beliefs. The way Donohue wrote this article was sometimes difficult for me to understand his point of view on Florence Nightingale. The beginning of the article was meant to be sarcastic, yet it took me a couple of times to gather that. There was also a mention of Hilary Clinton, and I was very taken back by the mention of her name. I guess if the entire article was meant to be sarcastic then I could understand him mentioning Mrs. Clintons name. Otherwise, this article was interesting; I think Florence Nightingale is a very interesting woman so not many articles regarding her could be bad. What is needed for the nursing shortage? If I knew this answer others would too and there may not have been this problem. One guess is increased salary. A lot of my friends are registered nurses working in smaller cities at their local hospitals. A couple of times I asked them about their pay and I was surprised at how low it was, especially since they have to pull so many different shifts. If a nurse is given as much responsibility as there are I would think hospitals would make comparable salaries to a kid who just graduated a tech school for computers. But they are not. The other problem I notice is a majority of the nurses are woman and many of the woman want to have children. Once many of the women have children they dont want to work full-time because they want to stay home with their children, or they dont have enough money for day care. Maybe hospitals should provide daycares for children of employees. These are just options. In todays society nursing is not as glamorous as it once was. ...
