From a branch of you favorite store that thought only existed in Manhattan, to expensive French resturants, tradtionional churched, gold shopes, and taverns.The thrid leg of our trip is Rhodes. Here we will be spending 2 days and 1 night. Rhodes is divided into 2 parts, the new city with its expansises of moder building and its beaches lined with resorts, and the old city which is encompased by a mideval wall and moat. The Midieval City of Rhodes is a city with a population if 6,000 people and is surrounded by these midevial walls containing 7 gates. The seven gates are: the Gate of the Naval Station, the Gate of Agios Ioannis, the Gate of Agia Ekaterini, the Gate of the Epistle Paul, the Gate of Amboise, the Gate of Agios Athanassios, and the Gate of the port. The Medieval City was divided into two parts: the northern part which included the Palace of the Grand Magistrates and the Acropolis of the Knights, the southern part was where the commoners lived in Hora. Across form the Castle of Knights is the temple of Venus from the 3rd century BC, behind it is the famous Lodge of the Battalion of Aiberne, built in 1507 which holds the headquarters if the Knights. The most georgous part of the Mideval City is its street of Knights which is Castellos main road. The road spans from the hospital to the palace of the Grand Magistrate. The Lodge of the Battalion of France stands in the palace. Next to the lodge stands the Chapel of the Battalion of France, where one can admire the beauty of the statue of the Virgin Mary and the holy infant. The nearby church of Agios Dimitrios is built upon the ruins of the ancient temple of Dionysus, god of wine. A lovly spot in the old city is the Turkish Baths on Platia Arionos.
