German Blitzkreig

es were destroyed one by one. Germany soon had to abandon their attack on Britain because it was becoming too costly. For the first time since the beginning of the war, Germany was losing battles. Germany mainly lost these battles due to Hitlers faith in quick wins, which he gained early on in the war, which caused him to ill-prepare his men for weather conditions and long battles. He was also overconfident in his army and would not let them retreat and regroup to renew an attack, which was always disastrous.When the allies finally attacked, Hitlers forces could not take them. For two years the United States and Britain had been building an invasion force of ships and landing craft of nearly 3 million troops to attack Hitlers forces on the other side of the English Channel. Rommel, the Desert Fox predicted that the allied forces would land their invasion force in Normandy. However, Hitler and the rest of his Generals thought the invasion would take place at the shortest distance between France and England. Since Hitler thought the invasion would begin there, he sent all of his Panzer divisions there. The front was so wide, that Hitler could not possibly cover every part of it, so he had to make gambles and play a guessing game as to where the allies would land. And where he thought they would land, was where he sent his forces. Since Rommel thought the invasion would take place at Normandy, he set up defenses there. However, since he had little time to prepare for it, there were huge gaps in his lines. Even though his defenses were set up excellently, he still had gaps in them. Of the five beaches Rommel defended, only two really had much of a defense. The other three beaches hadnt been completed yet. Hitler had gained too much territory, and he couldnt defend it all. When the invasion finally came, he was not prepared and the allied troops got off the beachhead. Hitler and his generals all knew that once the allies go...
