Interview with Abraham Lincoln Question 1:While running for president how much did you win by and was there any doubt in your mind that you wouldn’t win? Answer:I won over one hundred and eighty electoral votes out of a total of three hundred and three, with forty percent of the popular vote.    That consisted of all the northern and West Coast states.  However I was nervous a little because I won the plurality but not the majority of the popular vote.  I only won was because I had the majority in the Electoral College. So, I was nervous a bit, like most people are when running for some thing, but I stayed strong and came out on top at the end which is all that really matters. Question 2:During the Civil War you believed that this war was to save the union and not to free the slaves but after a year into it you wrote the emancipation proclamation freeing the slaves. Why is that?Answer:Well, OT begin I wrote the Emancipation Proclamation secretly and didn’t announce it until January 1, 1863.  I did this because I didn’t want to make it look like we needed blacks to save the Union.  So, I told all the unions that left that if they didn’t come back by January 1,1863 that I was going to free the slaves.  January 1,1863 came by and I freed all the slaves’ thing that it would help bring everyone together but unfortunately it didn’t. Question 3:Rumors have it that you wrote your speech about Gettysburg on the train there is this true Lincoln or is it not?Answer:That is totally inaccurate I prepared that speech long in advance. However I didn’t finish the actual text part of it until I was in Gettysburg. Question 4:During the Black Hawk War you were elected to be captain of the group.
