In contrast, Bradford writes about the hunger thatin the fist 3 months the crewsuffered. He did not mention about the difficulties of planting in afrozen floor, or fishing on a frozenlake. Also that half of the people died in January and February due to thehard winter and harshconditions. Similarly, England banned all trade with the New World and thepilgrims did not have all thesupplies they needed for an average living. Smith said that hunting waseasy and that you could make aliving, but what he did not mention was the dangers of the woods. Theunknown animals and theferocious bear, as well as the shortage of ammo and rifles because they didnot have any contact withEngland.Among the similarities about William Bradford and John Smith’s writings isthat the New World was aland for opportunities, that nobody chased them because of their puritanreligion. Bradford and Smithboth wrote about God giving them the opportunity of being in the New World,the opportunity of having anew home away from England. Smith, as well as Bradford, wrote about howhard the trip from Europewas, and also how the crew had hard and good moments but I think there arenot many things thatBradford and Smith had in common. One had the negative pessimist side ofthe trip, and the otherfantasized about a marvelous place.There are always two sides on a coin. By this I mean that a positive person(Smith) will always look forthe best, like the joy of adventures, the unexpected, the getting away froma routine. The negative person(Bradford) will always emphasize on the difficulties, inconvenience anddangers.
