Populists Party

ent support for farmers and workers, and control of the government by the people held them in high respects with most voters. Instead of trying to pick the worse of two evils, voters had a choice that favored the working class and that is exactly what the Populist Party had intended to do. Although it looked good on the surface, the party had its opponents who used everything they could to degrade the party and what is stood for. James Troutman implied that the populists consisted of people that joined together because no one in the major parties would listen to them because they held no place in society (TTP 102). Being a Republican, Troutman didnt want to encounter the truth to the Populist Party arguments. He said what it took to get bad attention on the party. Many people agreed with him, but when it was all said and done the peoples party had gained recognition by being as honest as any party could be, giving in to the peoples needs and sympathizing with their problems....
