Princess Diana
Princess Diana Princess Diana, also known as Princess of Wales was born on July 1, 1961 at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. Her parents, who were married in 1954, were separated when Diana was 13 years old in 1967. Their marriage was dissolved 2 years later in 1969. Diana’s mother later married Earl Spencer, who was the Countess of Dartmouth in 1976. Diana was living with her dad with her siblings Sarah, Jane, and Charles. She lived there until her grandfather, Earl Spencer the 7th passed away. Then, they moved to the Spencer family seat at Althorp, which had been there since 1508, in Northampton shire. Her first school to attend was a preparatory school called Riddlesworth Hall of Diss, Norfolk. In 1974 she went to West Health, near Seven oaks, Kent as a boarder. While she was attending there she showed a talent for music (she was a pianist.) In 1977 she left West Health and moved on to finishing school at the Institute of Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland. A year later she moved to a flat in Coleherne Court, London. She got a job as a Kindergarten teacher at the Young England School in Pomlico. On February 24, 1981, when Diana was 20 years of age she was pronounced to be married to Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. They were neighbors until 1975 and their families had known each other and Princess Diana and The Prince met again when he was invited to Althorp in 1977. They were pronounced husband and wife at Saint Paul’s Cathedral in London on July 29, 1981 When Diana was 21. They estimated that there were about 1,000 million people and hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets. The reception was held at Buckingham Palace. Diana was the first Englishwomen to marry an heir to the throne for 300 years! She wore a silk dress with a 25-foot train, her veil was held in place by a diamond tiara, belonging to the Spencer family. They spent part of their honeymoon at the Mountbatten family home at Broadlands, Hampshire. The other part was spent in the Royal Yacht for a 12-day cruise through the Mediterranean to Egypt. The finished off their honeymoon with a stay at Balmoral. The happy couple decided to live at Highgrove House near Tetbury, Gloucestershire. They shared an apartment in Kensington Palace while they were away from their home. Later Diana had two sons. The oldest one is Prince William Arthur Philip Louis who was born on June 21, 1982. The younger of the two, Prince Henry Charles Albert David was born on September 15, 1984. Both were born at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, in London. She also had seventeen godchildren. In December of 1992, they decided that they had to separate because Diana’s work is based at her office in Kensington Palace, and her husband’s work was based at their other home at Saint James’s Palace. She gave a television interview in 95’ as she spoke of how unhappy her life was and how she was pressured with her job. The Prince and Princess were divorced on August 28, 1996. Although, they continued to care for their children equally. The Princess was still a member of the royal family. On Sunday, August 31, 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales passed away in a car accident in Paris, France. She was in her car when they passed under the Place de l’Alma underpass in Central Paris. The paparazzi was following her and a lot of people blame them for the accident. It was before midnight when they had crashed, so on Saturday August 30, they took her to the La Pitie Salpetriere Hospital where she was immediately taken to the Emergency room. She underwent 2 hours of emergency sugery before being declared dead. Her companion Mr. Dodi Fayed, and the driver of the vehicle died also, a body guard was seriously injured. Her body was transferred to the United Kingdom in the evening of Sunday, the next day, by a Bae 146 aircraft. Her body lie privately in Chapel Royal in Saint James’s Palace until the funeral. The funeral was on Saturday September 6, in Westminster Abbey. Her family and friends visited the chapel to pay their respects. After the funeral service the coffin had to be taken by road to Althorp for a private interment. She was buried on sanctified ground on an island in the center of a lake. Bibliography: none
