peacefully disperse.” A cry came from a striker in the crowd; “we are peaceable.” That was the end to the demonstration because that next moment a loud thunderous boom engulfed the crowd and after that terrorist attack the police officers opened up fire against the crowd killing many men, women, and children. It was the most disturbing thing to happen in Chicago for a long time.Why would a group or faction do something so horrendous as to get innocent people killed? We have no idea why but we do know the consequences for those who were rooted out. The trial of the eight accused individuals of murder to a police officer was a long trial, and delivered a swift and maybe an unjust punishment. For the people accused of the bombing in the Haymarket square I believe that there was not sufficient evidence to give the eight people the death sentence. I think that it should have been more along the lines of by person the sentence, not the whole group together. For Spies a man that knew basically nothing that was going on but that of a news letter that he published should have gotten time but not death. Lingg should have gotten conspiracy and accessory to a crime. For the others I believe they should have gotten life in prison without parole. But back in those days punishment was fast and fierce. What about the police officers that gunned down several innocent protestors what is to happen of them? It would be nice to think that the deceased families would be compensated for their loss, but that would be highly unlikely. Or that swift punishment be given especially to the officers that gunned down the women and children that were running away from all the action as to not be harmed, but that didn’t happen because they are too dead. In the end no one but the accused were ever seriously dealt with. In the end knowing that there was not enough evidence to truly convict these people of murder because no one ac...
