Feber’s thesis. However, it is more like La Feber’s then Kennan’s. Kennan thought that the foreign policy of the United States was done on impulse or by accident. But like La Feber’s thesis there was definitely a reason for why Roosevelt did what he did concerning the foreign policy of the United States. Unlike McKinley’s reason of commerce, Roosevelt acted in the idea of power. Everything he did concerning foreign policy had the idea of expressing the power the United States now had. With concern to the Monroe Doctrine, he showed that the U.S. had and wanted the power to control this hemisphere. By gaining the Panama Canal Zone, the U.S. showed that they now controlled the easiest and basically only way to get from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. When Roosevelt dispatched the Great White Fleet he intended to show the world that the United States was now a force to reckon with. Theodore Roosevelt, had an idea about how to deal with the foreign policy of the U.S., he wanted to show the power of the country through his actions. La Feber’s thesis would have been a better indicator of the foreign policy of the United States. Like McKinley, Roosevelt had a reason why he did what he did according to the United States foreign policy....
