Now in some parts I can see where theauthor is coming from, even though I am not from those times. I see where hesympathizes for the tenant farmers and the migrant workers like the Joads, buthe only gives their side of the story, which in fact I never good because thewhole truth is not told. As a citizen of California, I take pride in my state and seeit as a strong state that is part of the United States, not an individual state thatlikes to stir up trouble, but yet again, that is jus my viewpoint. I believe this book was well written because it shows how this family goesagainst all odds and makes it through at the end. It shows heart break andtragedy as would a normal novel, but it shows historical and literary significance. It was interesting in a way that you really have to get involved and know thebackground to understand. It also when also with the time it portrayed andshowed how things were from a viewpoint we don’t often see in history. In a way the book helped increase my understanding of the things thatoccurred at that time and people changed the word “I” into “we” because theybelieved that if they worked together then they could make it. This showed howthey had hope, even against all the odds that were headed towards them. I would recommend this book because it gives you a better understandingof how something fiction can explain something so realistic and accurate to thetimes they occurred.
