t Humanity and war crimes, therefore his guiltiness has been established, however it must be seen to what extent he is guilty of the charges laid against him. Speer himself admitted to knowing about the importation of illegal labourers. When asked, “You did not give any particular attention to the legal side of this thing. Did you? … You were 'after manpower; isn't that the fact? Speer answered “That is absolutely correct” The negligence of Speer in not showing concern for the legal matters concerning his operations is clear, he not only admits to this negligence but also admits that he was not concerned for the well being of the people which were imported, but saw them as a mechanism to achieving his goal.Evidence, in the form of a report, commenting on the necessity of forced labour states, “French labour exchanges co- operate quite loyally…” Speer strongly denied that any allied prisoners were used in war production, however this report contradicts this. Evidence would show that Both forced labour and the use of prisoners of war were used in the production of war materials. Detaining both of these groups of people without their consent is in violation of crimes against humanity, and Speer, being responsible for not only those under his command but also for those working for him is consequently blameworthy for the crimes committed.To further the strength of the crimes against Speer, in his violation of crimes against humanity, evidence attaching him to the appalling conditions of the workers must be viewed.An affidavit, sworn by Dr. Apolinary Gotowicki, a physician in the Polish Army, after the conclusion of the war reports on some of the appalling conditions he experienced, while attending prisoners at a Russian POW camp in the Raumastrasse in Essen.
