Consequently, there were only a few African capitalists who accumulated an insignificant amount of capital.Another approach to proving that Europeans didnt do much for the African people is analyzing what Africans had to work with directly after colonization. Besides the obvious situations: several hospitals with hardly any qualified doctors, an uneducated population with an inadequate amount of teachers, depletion of natural riches, and a reduction in the quality of soil, there was one big problem that plagued Africa. The natives didnt have enough skills to run the continent efficiently and were forced to depend on outsiders for survival. Colonization forced most of Africa to be an agricultural society. Even though the people werent given advanced equipment they were able to tend to the land using the same slow, backbreaking methods they used for years. But there werent any factories in Africa to manufacture their raw materials. The colonialists didnt industrialize Africa because companies would have produced all of their products in Africa (due to low labor costs) causing European unemployment and an African middle-class would have formed because they would have to teach Africans modern skills. So, Africans had to ship their raw materials to other countries, usually their former colonists, to make them into finished products.It is obvious that colonization didnt benefit Africa. Europeans took Africas resources then abandoned the underdeveloped continent forcing them to depend on their former oppressors. Colonists shouldnt take credit for anything but profiting from Africans property and hard work....
