One of the biggest things that Theodore did to modernize the presidency was to hold press conferences regularly and let the people know what was going on. Following Roosevelt was William Taft. He was a mild mannered man. He did not have the spark that Roosevelt had. He seemed to be timid and was scared of the people of America. He loved the children and protected their rights very much. He introduced many bills to protect their rights. Roosevelt did not think that he was progressive enough.The last president is Woodrow Wilson. He was totally for the people. He did not help out the business it seems at all. One thing he did do for the business is he reduced tariffs. In order to do so he lobbied members of congress to support the bill. He also supported workers. HE was the first person to come up with laws that protected children from working in mines and factories. He came up with sick leave and compensation bills. Wilson was more progressive than Taft. As for monopolies he passed the Clayton Antitrust Act, which outlawed companies to work together to eliminate competition. To see the all antitrust acts were abided by Wilson started the Federal Trade Commission.I believe that Roosevelt was the most progressive president in American history. I believe this because he did more than the other presidents for everyone. The others seemed to help out a certain type of group. Roosevelt seemed to focus on the whole country at one time instead of a group at a time. He also brought the country together more. To work harder and together for a common goal....
