mark et ing Chinua Achebe wrote both Things Fall Apart and No Longer At Ease as novels which criticized society. Though both of these novels deal with the clash of two widely different cultures, their main characters and settings are very different. Things Fall Apart’s protagonist, Okonkwo, lives in a rural village which has had very little outside contact. Okonkwo dominates the village society through hard work and determination. Obi Okonkwo, No Longer At Ease’s protagonist, lives in Lagos, a growing metropolis which is dominated by white Englishmen. Despite his hard work, Obi is trapped in a cycle of debt. Bibliography:
